Prayer for the Family of Jerry Splitt, Our EMS Family, and All Who Continue His Legacy

Heavenly Father,

Today we come before You with hearts filled with sorrow as we mourn the passing of Jerry Splitt, a dedicated Program Director, Flight Nurse, mentor, colleague, and friend. We thank You for the life he lived and the countless people he served through his compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping others.

Jerry answered the call to care for those who were hurting, frightened, and in need. Like the Good Samaritan in Scripture, he did not pass by when others were suffering. He stopped, he cared, he comforted, and he gave of himself so that others might have hope and healing. Through long hours, difficult missions, and moments of crisis, he reflected the love of Christ through acts of mercy and service.

Lord, we lift up Jerry’s family before You. Surround them with Your peace, comfort, and strength in the difficult days ahead. Hold them close when grief feels overwhelming and remind them that they do not walk this journey alone.

We also pray for our fellow flight crews, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, pilots, dispatchers, physicians, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and healthcare professionals who mourn the loss of a trusted colleague and friend. Grant them comfort as they remember the many lives Jerry touched and the example he set through his servant-hearted leadership.

May we all be inspired to continue his legacy by caring for others with the same compassion, dedication, and kindness that he demonstrated throughout his life.

Scripture

“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers… But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.” — Luke 10:30,33

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your master.” — Matthew 25:23

Gracious God, thank You for Jerry’s life of service and sacrifice. As we grieve, help us to remember that death is not the end for those who belong to You. Through Christ’s resurrection, we hold fast to the promise of eternal life and the hope of reunion in Your heavenly kingdom.

Until that day, may Your peace guard our hearts, Your love sustain us, and Your grace carry us forward.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our risen Lord and Savior, we pray.

Amen —

This week begins National EMS Week where we celebrate and honor the dedication of our EMS Clinicians, our neighboring Agency EMS Clinicians and EMS Clinicians across the World! 👏 👏

This week we spend extra time recognizing the impact EMS Clinicians have as frontline professionals in Healthcare. 🤝 🌎 🏥

___________________________________________

National EMS Week’s focus this year is “Improving Outcomes, Together”. At Geisinger EMS, our interpretation of doing this is a multifaceted approach.

- Our EMS clinicians work closely with our Medical Direction Team of Emergency Physicians including annual core skills verifications, medical care reviews for quality improvement and education, as well as dual response with EMS units in their Physician Response Vehicle from Geisinger Medical Center. 👨‍⚕️ 👩‍⚕️

- Geisinger EMS is reinforcing its commitment to “Improving Outcomes, Together” through collaboration with our community partners at the Fire Department and Police Department. Geisinger EMS is in the process of integrating mutual training opportunities for our EMS clinicians and for our partnering First Responders to improve outcomes, like hosting equipment reviews and integrated training sessions. 🚒 🚔

- Geisinger EMS is “Improving Outcomes, Together” by closely working with the regional hospital systems in transferring patients to necessary higher level of care such as trauma, cardiology, or neurology services. As well as assisting in the hospital capacity management and hospital discharge process. EMS assists in providing strategic logistic movements and quality care for getting patients to where they need to be such as a different hospital location, rehabilitation, nursing facilities or even a patient’s home.

- In addition to Geisinger providing free continued education to its internal EMS team, it is also attended by hundreds of EMS clinicians across the region on a monthly basis. 📖

- Geisinger EMS is “Improving Outcomes, Together” by continuing to train perspective EMS Clinicians, for the future. Through the Geisinger EMS EMT Academy and the Geisinger EMS Explorer Post, we are empowering students to enter the Emergency Medical Service. 🎓 🚑

The role of an EMS Clinician is nothing short of amazing, inspirational and compassionate. The role includes difficult challenges, conversations and unmeasurable amount of stress at times but as an EMR, EMT, A-EMT, Paramedic, FP-C, CFRN, PHRN, PHPE, EMS Physician is beyond the uniforms, beyond the patch… it’s about our passion, the love for our community, our integrity, our resilience, and our pride. Whether it’s an Ambulance, an EMS Squad Unit, or even an EMS Helicopter showing up to your call for help, it’s important to know that a team of confident and dedicated Healthcare Professionals are being deployed with one goal in mind — “Improving Outcomes, Together”.

Thank you to the EMS Professionals across the world but specifically to all of our Team of EMS Professionals at Geisinger Emergency Medical Service and our friends at Geisinger LifeFlight, thank you for all that you do!🩵🩵🚑🚑
