Wonderful news this evening, we successfully trapped Scaredy Cat from the house fire on Pioneer Ave!

Never underestimate a creature's ability to escape against all odds or their will to live. I knew he got out! ❤️

I sat with Scaredy Cat, talked to him and fed him for several nights as he wasn't a fan of the trap. We hung out many times over the last week earning trust. As you can see he wanted to be in his house and didn't understand what happened or why his family wasn't there.

We couldn't be happier for Scaredy Cat's dad and his fur brother Mr. Kittens. They are reunited and that makes my heart happy.

Update: 08/14/26 We successfully trapped Scaredy Cat and he has been reunited with his family! ❤️

Update 08/09/26: Scaredy Cat did escape from the fire! We are asking everyone to please not look for him or approach if you see him. Please do NOT leave any food or water out. We have a trap set and are monitoring it. Thank you for everyone's cooperation and kindness. ❤️

Update on Shavertown fatal house fire. Mr. Kittens the cat that was taken to the emergency hospital for smoke inhalation was released yesterday to his owner. We are extremely grateful for everyone that played a part in making sure Mr. Kittens received the treatment he needed. His life was saved because of many incredible people in our community. ❤️

Unfortunately Agent Orange another kitty was found deceased in the home. Rest in peace sweet boy and fly high. Our sincere condolences to his family.

There is still one cat that hasn't been found. It's possible he escaped the fire, I've seen cats survive and escape situations that seemed impossible. We never make assumptions and he is considered lost until proven otherwise.

Here's where we need your help. Please share this post so we can spread the word in case he is seen. We have traps etc to setup.

The missing cat is EXTREMELY skittish so please don't pursue if you see him. His name is Scaredy Cat for a reason.

If you see the cat, please message us immediately. Thank you for your assistance.

We have some wonderful news to share. Lucan has been released from the hospital and is back home with his family and fur brother Thor!

We are incredibly grateful for everyone that played a role in saving his life! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Pets are family too!

Update: One of the cats was found deceased in the home. Our deepest condolences to the family. Rest in peace and run free Agent Orange.

Early this morning the Luzerne County Animal Response Team responded to a fatal fire on Bennett St in Luzerne.

A family dog, Lucan, was found unresponsive in the home and partially stuck to the floor. Firefighters were able to perform CPR and administer oxygen and revived him. I went and picked him up and immediately rushed him to the ER for smoke inhalation and a wound from being stuck to the floor from the intense heat.

I would like to personally thank every Firefighter, Police Officer, EMS personnel on scene and our 911 operations center. This was a very heartbreaking call where a 15 year old young man lost his life and 3 other family members are in the hospital fighting. Another family dog, Zeva, also perished. We will be taking her to be cremated.

Please send prayers for the victims, their friends and family and prayers for our first responders that experienced this tragedy.

Lucan was given a bath immediately and put in an oxygen chamber at the ER. He also has an eye ulceration. Lucan is resting comfortably with some medication and being monitored. Thank you to our friends at the Luzerne County SPCA for helping keep Lucan under medical supervision until he can be reunited with his family.

Rest in peace Connor my sincere condolences to your family and friends on such a tragic loss. Happy Heavenly Birthday Connor. Rest in peace to Zeva that passed. I hope you are both reunited and together. ❤️

Today we responded to a deadly fire in Edwardsville. A tragic situation for many reasons.

Although a tragic scene, I'm always impressed by the dedication of our first responders. We truly are blessed with some of the best first responders. I have a tremendous amount of respect for them.

We transported 3 cats and 1 deceased cat from the scene. Unfortunately, almost all the cats perished in the fire. There were a tremendous amount of cats in the house.

Thank you to fellow CART member John Ackourey for searching and sweeping the rooms for any sign of life.

Huge thank you to all the fire companies on scene Kingston-Forty Fort, Edwardsville, Shavertown, Swoyersville, Hanover Township, Larksville and anyone else I may not have seen. Thank you to the West Side Regional Police and the Edwardsville DPW for their kindness and professionalism. Thank you to the 911 center for calling for assistance. Thank you to the two wonderful gentlemen from Trans Med that administered oxygen to 3 cats.

These scenes are truly a team effort with everyone playing an important role. We are honored to work with such top notch first responders. A lot of first responders had several tragedies this week. If you can show them some extra love this week, please do so. Drop off a case of water, drop off lunch, send them a thank you note of how much they are appreciated.

Special thank you to the Luzerne County SPCA for allowing me to bring the 3 cats in for immediate treatment and agreeing to cremate the kitty that passed.

We are at the Adoption Event at the Viewmont Mall sponsored by the NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative from 11 am to 5 pm today! Come visit us! There are many sweet dogs and cats available for adoption!
