🧠 UNLEARN: Challenge What You Know & Change What You Do

Join FSA for the 2026 National Family Week Conference, part of the David and Lillian Thalenfeld Family Life Series, in partnership with The Thalenfeld Family Charitable Trust and AllOne Charities.

πŸ“… Friday, November 13, 2026
πŸ“ Mohegan PA | Plains Township
⏰ Registration: 8:00 AM | Conference: 8:45 AM–3:30 PM
πŸ’² $45 per person | $30 for students
🍽️ Light breakfast and lunch included

This year's conference invites us to take a closer look at what we've been taught, the narratives we've accepted, and how those ideas can shape the way we see and serve others. Together, we'll challenge what we know, consider new perspectives, and explore how we can turn that learning into meaningful change in our lives, communities, schools, and professional practice.

Topics will include implicit bias, empathy, toxic masculinity, breaking generational cycles, poverty, the myth of resilience, bias and inequity, LGBTQIA+ and transgender youth, and more.

CEUs for LSW/LCSW/LMFT, CADC credits, and 4 hours of CLEs are available at no additional cost.

Speakers and the full schedule will be announced soon!

🎟️ Registration is open >> https://givebutter.com/2026NFWUNLEARN
Students: Email [email protected] for the registration code.

Interested in sponsorships, a resource table, or learning more? Contact Jessica Ives, CEO, at 570-823-5144 ext. 348 or [email protected].

We hope you'll join us for a day of challenging assumptions, expanding perspectives, and asking an important question: Now that we know better, what will we do better?

September is Su***de Prevention Month, a time to remind one another that talking about su***de matters. 🫢

Starting a conversation, listening without judgment, and letting someone know you care can make a difference. You don't need to have all the answers. Sometimes, simply being there and helping someone connect with support is an important first step.

If you or someone you know needs support, PA 211 NE/Help Line resources are available:
➑️ Crisis or after-hours support: 570-829-1341
➑️ Warm Line: 570-270-7717
➑️ (Non-emergencies) PA 211 information and referrals: Dial 211 or text your ZIP code to 898211

Start the conversation. Listen. Connect. You could make a difference. πŸ’™πŸ’œ

πŸ“š Back-to-School Tip #5: Validate Feelings

A new school year can bring excitement, but it can also bring nerves or uncertainty. Let children know their feelings are okay, listen to their concerns, and remind them that asking for help is always a good choice. ❀

Starting something new can feel easier when you know you have someone in your corner. 🌈

πŸ“š Back-to-School Tip #4: Adjust Screen Time

We know we might catch some slack for this one! Gadgets and toys can be hard to put down, but as school routines begin, it may be helpful to take another look at screen time habits. Creating a healthy balance can support better sleep, focus, learning, and quality time together as a family. πŸ“±β°

πŸ“š Back-to-School Tip #3: Talk About the School Day

Checking in with children about their day can open the door to important conversations. So much happens during a school day! Ask about the good moments, listen to their concerns, and give them space to share what's on their mind. A simple conversation can go a long way. πŸ’¬

πŸ“š Back-to-School Tip #2: Set a Routine

As summer winds down, getting back into a regular routine can help make the transition to school easier for the whole family. Trust us, we love a good lazy morning with sleeping in! Consistent bedtimes, morning routines, and a little preparation the night before can help reduce stress and make those early mornings go more smoothly. πŸŽ’β°

πŸ“š Back-to-School Tips from FSA!

A new school year is just around the corner, and we're sharing a few simple tips to help children and families start the year on a positive note. Over the next few posts, we'll cover routines, communication, screen time, and more.

First up: keep good vibes! A positive attitude can help make the transition back to school a little easier. Remember, every school day is a new opportunity to learn, grow, and try something new. 🍎

There’s nothing better than seeing a community come together to make sure local kids are ready to head back to school! β€οΈπŸŽ’

FSA was proud to distribute clothing for the Back 2 School Bash with Children, Youth and Families, where we saw approximately 200 kiddos and distributed almost all of the clothing we brought! From new shoes and outfits to winter coats and clothing for families who have recently experienced devastating loss, these donations made a real difference.

And the sweetest part? Hearing directly from the kids and families:

πŸ’¬ β€œI can’t wait to match these shoes with my first day outfit. It's going to look so pretty!”

πŸ’¬ β€œGrandma your hair is braided and you look so pretty!”

πŸ’¬ β€œI just moved to the area from the south and have no winter clothing. We lost everything in a fire. These winter clothes and coats are going to be so helpful.”

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this possible, including our clothing donors Lolliposh Consignment and Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services for their surplus giving, all of the individuals who donated clothes, everyone who donated bags and provided support, and our friend Gordon for building the clothing racks!

And of course, a special shoutout to FSA’s own DJ Bouncin' Bernie for keeping the event full of music and fun! 🎢
