Last night we wrapped up year 6 of the Barefoot Country Music Fest. Every year we look forward to catching up with our BCMF family and in the blink of an eye, the 4-day music fest is over. We take great pride in providing the highest level of service to all BCMF concert goers. We want to thank the staff from AtlantiCare EMS for all their assistance, as well as the working relationship we have developed and maintained over the years. We would also like to give special recognition to two individuals who worked their last concert. Medical Director Dr. Brett Greenfield (MD-1) will be assuming a new role and Paramedic Nancy Stanton, who is set to retire next month. We have worked very close with Nancy for many years. Whenever Nancy was on a call with us we knew the patient was in very good hands, especially when she was working with her partner Nancy Raniszewski (now retired). The Officers and Firefighters of the WFD wish you both the best of luck in your next chapter! We look forward to another successful BCMF concert in 2027! 🤠 🎸 🏖️ 🇺🇸

At 1:40 am this morning, Squad Co. 3 (D Platoon) and North Wildwood Fire Department Ladder Co. 2 were dispatched to the 4600 block of Pacific Ave. for an activated fire alarm. Squad Co. 3 arrived quickly and discovered a working fire in a restaurant. The alarm was upgraded to a 1st alarm building fire assignment, adding off-duty WFD firefighters, along with Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Dept Tower 4, Rio Grande Fire Company Squad 72, and Stone Harbor Firefighters FMBA 151 Engine 13. The fire was located in the rear kitchen area of the building with heavy smoke throughout. Squad Co. 3 quickly knocked down the fire containing it to the area of origin, while Ladder Co. 2 opened up and began ventilation. Due to the quick response and efforts of the initial companies, damage was kept to a minimum. There were no injuries and the fire was placed under control at the 15 minute mark. The Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire to be accidental. Fire units operated on scene for approximately 2 hours.

The WFD extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the juvenile victim during this incredibly difficult time.

WILDWOOD, NJ (June 10, 2026):
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Wildwood Police Department was notified that recovery efforts were being conducted just off the beach of the United States Coast Guard Training Center Cape May of a deceased individual.
During the course of this investigation, it became apparent that this individual may be the 14 year-old juvenile male victim who had gone missing in the ocean in Wildwood on June 1, 2026. With the assistance of the United States Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police and the Cape May Police Department the remains were recovered and turned over to the medical examiner’s office. Upon further forensic analysis positive identification was made confirming the identification as the missing juvenile from here in Wildwood. Next of kin notification was completed once positive identification was made.
Our sincere condolences are with the juvenile victim’s friends and family during this very difficult time. We also want to thank all the first responders who assisted with not only the initial rescue operations, but that of the recovery efforts.
