Free breakfasts and lunches will be offered to all children 18 years old and younger at 33 locations in Wichita as part of the WPS Summer Food Service Program. The free breakfast/lunch program begins Wednesday, May 27, and runs through Friday, July 24. The free meals are available to all children, regardless of which school district they attend and not just students who receive free/reduced meals during the school year.

Se ofrecerán desayunos y almuerzos gratuitos a todos los niños y niñas de 18 años o menos en 33 ubicaciones en Wichita como parte del Programa de Alimentos durante el Verano de las Escuelas Públicas de Wichita.

High School summer school enrollment is open! Students can take courses for original credit or credit recovery. To enroll, students must see a counselor for course selection and completion of the online enrollment application. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

High school students can take original credit in Government, Financial Literacy and P.E. and Professional Communications at Heights High School.

Students can take Government and Financial Literacy virtually through Education Imagine Academy.

Recovery credit for English I-IV, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, US History 1 and 2, Government, P.E., Financial Literacy and Professional Communications is available at Heights High School.

Rivalry on the River is a competition for high school students at Riverfest. Teams must consist of 6 students from the same school, they will compete against other teams in challenges of strength, speed, creativity, knowledge of Wichita and team spirit. Prizes will be awarded to winning teams, and all participants will receive a free riverfest button to enjoy all 6 days of riverfest after the Rivalry.

We are proud to celebrate three of our outstanding students who were selected as scholarship recipients from the Assistance League of Wichita! Chosen from a competitive pool of more than 50 applicants, their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence truly set them apart.

The Assistance League of Wichita scholarship program provides full-ride, vocational, and technical scholarships to qualifying USD 259 graduating seniors, supporting students as they pursue certificate programs at WSU Tech or Butler Community College. These awards often cover tuition and fees for both the first and second years, an incredible investment in our students’ futures.

Congratulations to these remarkable students on this well-deserved achievement!
