*** Shooting Investigation***

At 5:37 p.m., Wichita police responded to a shooting in the 500 block of North Eisenhower. When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm. He was taken to a hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Through the preliminary investigation, officers learned the victim was walking with two juveniles, both under the age of 18. All three are known to each other.

Investigators believe one of the juveniles was negligently handling a fi***rm when it discharged, striking the victim.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Chief Joe Sullivan enjoyed attending the Hope Scholarship Gospel and Jazz Brunch Fundraiser at the Carl Brewer Community Recreation Center. The event, organized by the Greater Wichita Ministerial League, supports young people pursuing their education and future goals. Special thanks to the League and all supporters investing in Wichita’s youth. We are proud to stand behind our young people as they advance to the next step.
