We are bursting with Buckner STAR pride for our very own Khaliya, a 5th grader in Mr. Bradley’s class, who has earned the role of Little Éponine in Les Misérables with Music Theatre Wichita! ⭐️
Khaliya is truly Born to Shine, and we couldn’t be more excited to see her take the stage at Century II Concert Hall! 🎶✨

🎉 FUN FRIDAY AT BUCKNER! 🎉
Who says school staff can’t have a little fun?! 😜💚
Our Buckner staff knows how to work hard, but we also know how to PLAY HARD! Today’s Fun Friday brought plenty of laughs, smiles, and a little friendly competition with FINISH THE LYRIC! 🎤🎶
Let’s just say… we may have some future singers in the building, and a few folks who might want to keep their day jobs! 😂😂
We LOVE our Buckner staff and the joy, energy, and teamwork they bring every single day. Our students deserve a staff that works hard for them—and knows how to have a little fun along the way!

🎶🥁💃🏽🎤 BUCKNER FINE ARTS IS SHINING BRIGHT! 🎨✨
This week has been an exciting one at Buckner as our students have been showing up, stepping out of their comfort zones, and auditioning and trying out for our Fine Arts programs! 💚
And WOW… the overwhelming interest in Drumline has been absolutely incredible! 🥁🔥 Our students are ready to make some noise and show us what they can do!
Did you know that Buckner is the ONLY elementary school in Wichita Public Schools with a BAND program?! 🎺🎷 That is something truly special!
Our Fine Arts opportunities include:

Reminder: Schools and district offices are closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. Schools will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 8, for district inservice.

When we talk about how the bond could affect property taxes, we use the median Wichita home value — just over $200,000 — as our common example.

Question 1 asks voters to approve $407.1 million in bonds. If this passes, the tax rate stays exactly where it is today. Homeowners would not see any increase in what they currently pay, unless their property valuation increases.

Question 2 asks voters to approve $207.9 million in bonds. If this passes, the property tax rate would increase, adding about $50 a year — just $4.16 a month — for the owner of a $200,000 home compared to what they're paying now.

We've heard from the community throughout this process, and $50 a year is a threshold that a majority of Wichitans have told us they'd support.
