Some medications—or combinations of medications—can affect balance, alertness, or blood pressure. Vision changes can also make it harder to see obstacles and changes in flooring.

This month, consider scheduling:

A medication review with your pharmacist or provider
A vision exam
A conversation about dizziness, weakness, or feeling unsteady

Today marks 25 years since the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

We take a moment to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 people who were killed in the horrific terrorist attack. We still remember, and we always will.

Who's ready for the second challenge of, "Preparing Sedgwick County, One Step at a Time?" Sedgwick County Emergency Management’s second challenge for Preparedness Month is to make a plan.

Your household may not be together when an emergency happens. Take 10 minutes this week to discuss:

- How you will receive emergency alerts
- Where you will shelter
- How you will communicate
- Where you will meet if separated
- What you will do for pets, medications, transportation and access needs

Write it down, share it, and practice it. For more information, visit https://www.ready.gov/plan

An occupational therapist can be an important partner in fall prevention. Occupational therapists help people safely navigate everyday activities at home and in the community—from bathing and getting dressed to cooking, using stairs, and moving through living spaces.

They can also recommend practical home modifications, adaptive equipment, and strategies to help support independence and reduce fall risk.

If you or someone you care about is concerned about falling, talk with a health care provider about whether occupational therapy may help.
