BURN BAN EXTENDED:

The Burn Ban has been extended through October 4th by the Wichita County Commissioner’s Court. It’s hot and dry with no relief in sight for at least the next two weeks. Use caution when doing anything that could start a fire, and call 911 as soon as the fire starts to get help started.

FINAL UPDATE FROM WICHITA WEST 7:52 PM:
Fire is under control and crews are now ensuring containment. Wichita West crews have been released and are headed back to the station. For any further updates please monitor the Burkburnett Fire Department page.

Your Wichita West Firefighters are assisting the Burkburnett Fire Department on the Phoenix Fire, near FM-368 and FM-1813. The fire is approximately 10 acres at this time.

Here's a different kind of map for you today. This map shows the fuel dryness, and as you can see, we are critically dry. Please be mindful with with where you park, or when doing things that can cause a spark. If you believe you see a fire that has not been reported, do not hesitate to call 911.

Overall improved fire conditions today with highs in the mid 90's and slight chance of rain this afternoon. Fires can still start and spread today, but they will be much easier to control. Thank all of y'all for the outpouring of support we have been shown recently, and thank you for allowing us to serve you!

UPDATE 9:36 AM: The fire is named the Early Bird Fire. It has burned approximately 53 acres. Our trucks are clearing the scene and headed back to the station.

An early morning start today. Your Wichita West Firefighters are assisting the Burkburnett Fire Department with a grassfire near Bohner Rd and Thrift Rd. The fire is approximately 25 acres at this time. Firefighters are currently conducting burnout operations in order to ensure containment.

Another hot and dry day means we have a HIGH FIRE DANGER. Be cautious of anything that can spark a fire. In the event you do accidentally start a fire, call 911 immediately to get help coming. These fires will spread fast and quickly get out of hand.

UPDATE 4:34 PM: the fire is contained and out. Crews are clearing and headed back to the station.

NEW FIRE: A new fire was reported just down the road from the first in the 8000 block of Mahler Rd. The fire is named the Mahler Fire and is reported at 2 acres. Structures were threatened at first, but forward progress has been stopped at this time.
