💦🐺 Making a splash at our 3rd Annual Water Safety Day!

Today, the CAPC community returned to Great Wolf Lodge for one of our favorite annual traditions!

We intentionally choose Great Wolf Lodge because accessibility matters. Having an accessible environment means more individuals can participate, build confidence in the water and enjoy the experience alongside their friends.

Water Safety Day brings together safety, independence, inclusion and a whole lot of fun. Individuals practiced important water safety skills while enjoying the water, spending time with friends and building confidence in a supportive environment.

At CAPC, we believe access creates opportunity. When spaces are designed so everyone can participate, people have more opportunities to explore, learn, connect and simply have fun.

💙 Celebrating More Than 35 Years of Service, Leadership & Impact

Today, more than 120 family members, friends, colleagues past and present, and community supporters came together to celebrate the retirement of CAPC’s Vice President of Services, Edith Fierro.

Edith’s career began during a very different era for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At a time when institutional care was still common, Edith was part of the work helping individuals transition into their communities and build lives with greater independence, choice, and dignity.

For more than 35 years, she has carried that commitment forward.

Edith has advocated for individuals and families, mentored generations of staff, strengthened services, and helped shape CAPC into the organization it is today. She has had the rare opportunity to witness and help advance the evolution of disability services from segregation toward greater inclusion and community living.

Her legacy cannot be measured simply in years. It can be seen in the lives people are living today.

Seeing people from across the many chapters of Edith’s career gather to honor her was a beautiful reflection of the relationships she has built and the lives she has touched.

Edith, thank you for more than 35 years of believing in what was possible and helping make it possible. Your influence is woven into CAPC’s history, and your legacy will continue long after your retirement.

Congratulations on your next adventure. You will always be part of the CAPC family. 💙
