Last night, a Whittier PD Officer assigned to Santa Fe Springs conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a Vehicle Code violation. During the course of the investigation, a loaded firearm was located inside the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Whittier PD Jail for booking.🚔

Vehicle burglaries are often crimes of opportunity. Take action before you walk away from your vehicle:

🔒 LOCK IT — Every time, even if you’re only stepping away for a minute.

👀 CLEAR IT — Remove valuables and anything that could attract attention.

🔑 TAKE IT — Take your keys and never leave your vehicle running unattended.

💡 LIGHT IT — Park in well-lit areas whenever possible.

🚔 CHECK IT — Give your doors a quick tug before walking away to make sure they’re locked.

Don’t wait until after a burglary to take precautions. Make vehicle security a habit. 👍

On August 27, 2026, with the assistance of the Whittier PD and Downey PD SWAT Teams, the WPD Special Enforcement Team served a narcotics and weapons-related search warrant at a business in the 11400 block of Whittier Boulevard. The business was operating as a smoke shop with an illegal gambling casino attached.

During the search, over 46.2 grams of methamphetamine and co***ne were seized, scales (including other narcotic-sales items), (2) loaded handguns with high-capacity magazines, armor-piercing ammunition, and over $800 in U.S. currency.

Ultimately, three suspects were arrested on multiple charges and transported to the Whittier Police Department Jail for booking.

Today, at approximately 08:30am, Whittier PD responded to a report of a traffic collision between a train and pedestrian in the City of Santa Fe Springs. Lakeland Road between Bloomfield Avenue and Shoemaker Avenue is currently blocked off pending a fatality investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and Whittier PD Officers and Traffic Investigators are currently on scene. Please use alternate routes.

Early this morning, Whittier PD Officers assigned to Santa Fe Springs were proactively patrolling Little Lake Park when they observed a vehicle parked after hours.

Upon contact with the driver and passenger, it was discovered the driver was on probation, and the passenger, who was the owner of the car, gave consent for a search. During the search, a loaded G***k handgun was located. It was determined the firearm was reported stolen by another law enforcement agency.

Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Whittier Police Department Jail for booking without incident.

On August 22, 2026, FLOCK ALPR Cameras alerted Whittier PD Officers of a felony vehicle wanted out of LAPD’s jurisdiction for robbery. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. The suspect was safely detained, and LAPD Officers responded to the location to take custody of the robbery suspect.

Yesterday, the Whittier Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) served a search warrant in the 8000 block of Comstock Avenue, at the residence of a suspect who was in custody for reckless driving and narcotics charges.

Inside the residence, the WPD SET Team recovered additional fentanyl and sales indica. Great work! 🚔
