Did you know that Magnolia Avenue used to continue south of Hadley Street and connect to Whittier Boulevard at Sorenson Avenue? Our contractor began construction this week on the "Whittier Marketplace Water Main Replacement". Our transmission main running from Hadley Street in the old Magnolia Avenue alignment is in need of replacement. The work in the Marketplace parking lot will mostly take place at night to lessen the burden on the Marketplace and its tenants. The contractor will continue the installation of the water main south along the edge of Whittier Boulevard. This work will begin in approximately 3 weeks and will happen between the hours of 9AM and 3PM per the contractor's permit from Caltrans.

Our contractor installing water main on Norwalk Boulevard has discovered some voids under the pavement from our water main breaks over the last few years. In an abundance of caution, we will be closing the northbound right lane of Norwalk Boulevard until the contractor can complete the repair of these newly discovered voids. They will also be performing some exploratory excavations in the intersection of Orange Grove Avenue and Norwalk Boulevard to verify there are no other voids prior to the new pavement cap. Sorry for the inconvenience!

On Saturday October 6, 2018 the Savage Canyon Landfill will be closed for our contractor to reconstruct the access road. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

On-going SCE pole replacements will close 2 portions of Janine Drive tomorrow: just west of Larrylyn Drive and just east of Grovedale Drive. Detours will be in place from 8AM through 3PM. Please avoid the area if possible.

Expect a full closure of Mar Vista Street between Greenleaf and Washington for the next few minutes. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Cal Domestic's repair of their water main on Whittier Boulevard was unsuccessful this weekend. Therefore, tomorrow morning (5/22) at 7AM they will begin the process of replacing another section of pipe on an emergency basis. The same traffic control will be set up as over the weekend but this will obviously effect the commutes tomorrow. Once the contractor starts, they need to continue until completion of the repair. Please avoid Whittier Boulevard between Painter Avenue and Greenleaf Avenue tomorrow. We will update as we know more.

Southern California Edison will be working in the northbound Pickering Avenue lanes right at 5 Points on Monday (5/21) and Tuesday (5/22). Monday will have one lane open in each direction from 9AM to 3PM. Tuesday will have northbound Pickering Avenue closed from 8AM to 5PM, with one southbound Pickering Avenue lane open during the same time period. The buses that frequent that area have been notified of the change. Please avoid the area, if possible.

On Friday May 18 at 7PM California Domestic Water Company will begin work to repair their water main leak in Whittier Boulevard near Madison Avenue (west of Painter Avenue). The construction will continue non-stop until completed, likely though Saturday and into Sunday (May 20) morning. Cal Domestic is working with Caltrans for their permit to close the #1 lanes (closest to center of the street), necessary turn pockets, and parking in both directions from roughly Painter Avenue to Washington Avenue. We will provide further updates as construction nears. Please make every attempt to avoid this area that weekend.
