Fawn Season Reminder
It’s fawn season, and we want to gently remind everyone: please do not disturb, pick up, or take fawns that appear to be alone.
They are not abandoned. Mother deer often leave their fawns in a safe spot while they forage and will return for them. This is normal behavior, and the fawns will be okay.
State Park Rule: 59.134 (BB) Wildlife:
It is an offense to: (1) Harm, Harass, Disturb, Wildlife, or portions of wildlife from a unit of the state park system, Except by a permit isssued by the director as provided by the Parks and Wildlife code, Chapter 62, Subchapter D.
Please help us protect our wildlife by giving them space.
Also, please always watch your speed in the park during early mornings and late afternoons. Wildlife is more active during these times, and slowing down helps keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Lake Whitney State Park Staff
