2/20/26 9:00AM: The Hill County Commissioners Court ordered, in special session this morning, a 30 day burn ban for Hill County.

This decision was made due to dry conditions and the lack of appreciable rain. We're also forecasted numerous low-humidity days with high wind gusts in the coming days.

A copy of the order will be placed in the comments and posted on the County Website.

Reminder: Lakeview is in need of a few new members. Please come out and join a great group and help out. We meet on 4 tuesday nights at 7 pm every month at 118 Leasure Lane off FM 1713.

2/9/26 10:30PM - PUBLIC NOTICE: Local Disaster declared and 7 day disaster burn ban effective tomorrow morning.

Hill County Judge Shane Brassell has declared a local disaster and instituted a Disaster Burn Ban for 7 days, effective 2/10/26 at 6AM. The Disaster burn ban is set to expire on 2/17/26 at 6AM unless ratified by the Commissioners Court.

Today alone, Hill County Fire Departments have responded to 8 controlled burns that got out of control and 2 additional random start fires. Fire calls have been increasing over the last few days and have been exhausting local resources.

Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department is needing new members. With some retirements and others out do to medical reasons we need help ASAP. All the area fire departments are in need of help so please think about volunteering and helping out your community. Folks it’s scary to think that going into texas summer fire season and the fire departments are majorly understaffed and begging for help. Please help us out and volunteer.

3/13/25 4:15PM: Effective Friday, 3/14/25 at 7AM, Hill County Judge Justin W. Lewis has declared a local disaster and placed a Disaster Burn Ban in effect for Hill County. This burn ban will continue until Sunday 3/16/25 at 7PM at which time it will expire. A copy of the burn ban will be placed in the comments.
