Parents & Community Members,
I want to take a few moments to update all of you on a few things...
On Sunday we had our Baccalaureate ceremony and senior awards program. Out of the eighty-six students graduating this year, sixty-three of them are slated to go to either a trade school, junior college, or university. That's 73%. Pretty impressive.
On Tuesday night we had our athletic awards banquet, and I couldn't have been prouder of our kids and coaches. Every sport made it to the playoffs this year, which is a fantastic feat. We sent a record number of kids to the state powerlifting meet. Sent kids to state in track and tennis. Football had a phenomenal year. Girls basketball went from winning one game last year to making the playoffs this year. A lot of kids were very successful this year--and the exciting part is a lot of our teams are young. However, what was even more impressive was the number of kids who received accolades for their work in the classroom. That's what we want. Winning in the classroom and winning on the field and court. Outstanding job, guys.
We are still doing well with our turnover rate and open teaching positions. As of right now, both the high school and middle school have all their teaching positions filled for next year. The IS needs to fill two positions. The ES needs to fill one.
Just a quick reminder that as soon as school is out, some of our construction projects will begin. The elementary school will be receiving most of the work. Because of this, the elementary school office will be moved to the intermediate school and will remain there for most of the summer.
Thank you all for your support this year!
Regards,
Todd Southard
