Thursday Day #4

Sgt. Mitchell NPD and also CEMLEC SWAT came to visit. Gave the kids a little insight on what it takes to be a SWAT operator and also be at NPD as a Sgt. Sgt. Mitchell also brought the armored Bearcat.

In the afternoon, CEMLEC Drone operators from the Millbury Police Department, Sgt. Woeller and Ofc. Dufresme came to give the students a little insight on the technology that law enforcement uses now to assist us in our jobs. Ofc. Dufresne gave the students a demo of some of the capabilities of their Drone.

Wednesday Day # 3

Sgt. Patrinelli NPD and Sgt. Stratton UPD came to teach us about Use of Force and Defensive tactics. The kids had tons of question and then able to go to the gym to do some movements.

The afternoon our partners with the Massachusetts State Police, Troopers Todella and Henneberry from the Traffic Program Section came to visit. They brought their goggles that simulate being under the influence and or being distracted while operating a vehicle. The Troopers set up an obstacle course for the kids to peddle carts through the course with and without the goggles on.

Tuesday, Day # 2

The morning class consisted of Detective Jordan Tredeau NPD and Detective Jesse Miller UPD come and talk to the class about what our Detectives do and then help the students process their own fingerprints in different ways!

A big thank you to Northbridge Fire Department for hosting us in the afternoon to show us their nice station and their equipment/trucks.

Northbridge Uxbridge Youth Police Academy

Day #1
Chief Labrie welcomed our academy cadets and Kash!! At NPD the recruits got the chance to tour the station and enjoyed their time in the cell block. Though many wanted to ride the motorcycles we settled with a picture around them.

The afternoon consisted of NPD Officer Jarred Smith taught the recruits how to conduct a safe motor vehicle stop. The kids got to do some role playing and try it themselves. At the same time Officer DeJordy took 1/2 the group to run radar on Linwood Ave. Though no one was traveling fast enough for a ticket, the kids seemed to enjoy attempting to guess the speed of the oncoming vehicles. The construction on Linwood Ave didn't make it too exciting!!
