Our super second graders are working together, learning, and growing every day! They are building friendships, supporting one another, and making so many wonderful memories along the way. We are so proud of their hard work and teamwork! We can’t wait to see all the amazing things they will accomplish during the rest of the school year!

4th Grade did a phenominal job working together on a STEM challenge! Students had to work together as a team to stack cups in a certain form by moving the cups with a string and not touching the cups with their hands. They were given 2 strings to make this happen. Way to go 4th grade using those problem solving skills and teamwork!

We are excited to invite community members and local businesses to participate in our 7th Annual College & Career Expo on Thursday, March 11, 2027, from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

This year’s Expo is once again generously sponsored by Purdue University Northwest and the Area Career Center!

Our goal is to expose students to the many college, career, and career-training opportunities available right here in our community. Early exposure helps students begin identifying their interests, understanding the skills and education different careers require, and making informed decisions about their futures.

What to Expect:
We are expecting nearly 800 students, along with teachers, staff, and parent/guardian chaperones. Franklin students in grades 3–6 will participate, with 6th-grade students attending from across the School City of Hammond. 6th-grade students will have a few general questions to ask our exhibitors about their profession, including required skills, education, and career pathways.
We also encourage our community partners to visit other exhibitors, network, collaborate, and help us build an even stronger community!

Date: Thursday, March 11, 2027
Partner Setup: 8:30–9:00 a.m.
Expo: 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Location: Franklin Elementary, 1000 116th. Whiting, IN 46394

A light breakfast and lunch will be provided, with lunch generously sponsored by Purdue University Northwest.

What Should You Bring?
Please feel free to bring items that help students see and experience your profession, such as:
-Equipment or tools related to your career
-Uniforms or professional gear
-Interactive activities or demonstrations
-Business cards, brochures, pamphlets, or handouts
-Swag or other items to share with students
The more hands-on and engaging, the better! We want students to be able to connect what they are learning in school to the possibilities that exist beyond the classroom. Our students have been working hard to learn about careers, the skills they need to be successful, and the steps they can take to reach their goals. Your participation helps make those possibilities real for them—and you may even meet a future employee!

Please join us on Friday, September 18th from 4:30-6PM for some outdoor fun! Get to know other Franklin families and staff, play games, and support the Franklin PTA with $1 hot dogs, $1 popcorn, and $1 lemonade. We look forward to this event every year and hope to see you there!

Good Afternoon Franklin Families!

Overall, everything is going well and very smooth!
We need your help, specifically with dismissal and ensuring this year's procedures are being followed.

First, the alley is ONE WAY. You enter on Roberts and exit onto 116th. No one should be exiting the parking lot and heading towards Roberts and no one should be turning off of 116th street to go down the alley to the parking lot.

Parking Lot:
This for students who have parents/someone picking them up in the CAR LINE.
If you park, in any way, shape or form, you need to pick up your child from 116th street, Door E.
By minimizing people walking across/in the alley area, we are ensuring everyone is safe with all of the cars trying to exit.
No one should be walking up in the parking lot area to pick up their child.
If you are in the car line, please stay in your car, we will bring your child to you!

Walker Door - 116th Street, door E. If you are physically picking up your child, please line up, single file. When you get to the door, tell the staff member who you need and they will call them. Please do NOT park on 116th street OR Amy to pick up your child at door E.

Today we were done with dismissal in under 10 minutes! On average last year we were done in 7 minutes. While the lines look long, it goes very quickly.
By working together and everyone following expectations, we can ensure all students are picked up in an efficient and safe manner.

All procedures were given out before school started, as well as, the packet you picked up at back to school night, or was sent home yesterday.
This has been sent via parent square, along with the video people. We do ask that you take time to review all things Franklin so that we can continue an efficient and safe environment for all.
