When we said bring the family, you guys listened.
We’ll have more chairs next year! 😅

I also learned I spent way too much time on plot notes just to hear, “I don’t need to look at all that, just tell me what to plant.”

Not to be lame, but one of the best moments was at the end of the night when a farmer’s wife stopped me to say how much she loved the office. The pictures, the wall color, the decorations, all the little things. She noticed all of it, and that meant a lot.

This was kind of the kickoff to a new chapter for us, and somewhere along the way I realized how far we have come and how good it feels to just enjoy doing what we love with so many great people.

And apparently Klaus needs to come next year 🐕

Started scouting down south this morning and got caught by a downpour about 100 yards from my pickup 🏃🏻‍♀️⛈️

Seeing some pollination issues from intense heat and silk clipping showing up with ear tips not fully pollinated. Got this ear from an irrigated field that had fungicide and insecticide.

Soybean fungicides absolutely have a place. That place just isn’t every acre, every year.

The latest Iowa Soybean Association research reinforces what I’ve seen in my own trials over the years. Disease pressure is what drives a response. If disease risk is low, a fungicide isn’t likely to consistently pay for itself.

That doesn’t mean never spray soybeans. It means scout your fields, know your disease risk, and make the application when it’s warranted, not just because it’s that time of year.

Fungicides are a great tool. Like any tool, they work best when there’s actually a job for them to do.

Disease pressure and timing are critical factors to consider before deciding to apply fungicide to soybean fields.
