Yesterday, SWSO members spent the night making mats for the homeless made of plastic bags! All proceedings will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Why would people experiencing homelessness want mats made of plastic bags? That's a fantastic question! These "plarn mats" (plastic yarn mats) are beneficial because:
-They provide insulation from the cold ground
-It's lightweight/easy to carry
-Waterproof
-It's durability (do not mold & can last years)
-helps hygiene
-Reduces plastic waste (keeps plastic out of landfills & waterways)

Huge shoutout to Elijah Glatczak, a sophomore at Palmyra-Eagle High School, for making the frame loom & making this project possible!
