Did you know Whitestown is named after Albert S. White? He was a U.S. Senator, railroad executive, federal judge, and a leader in the movement to abolish slavery in the United States. He also helped expand Indiana’s railroad system and was the first president of the Lafayette and Indianapolis Railroad, which ran through Whitestown and is now known as the Big 4 Trail.
Today, October 24, would have been Albert S. White’s 223rd birthday. We honor his legacy and the impact he made not only on Whitestown, but on our state and nation.
