Whitesburg Fire units had to respond back to the Tanglewood bridge after a fire was reported again. Units were able to extinguish the fire. We ask people to not smoke and throw cigarette buds on the bridge to prevent further damage.

Whitesburg Fire units were alerted for a fire at the bridge on the Tanglewood Trail behind Kentucky Mist Distillery. Units arrived on scene to the railroad ties being on fire on the bridge. Units were able to extinguish the fire and stopped any spread.

❗️Structure Fire❗️

Whitesburg Fire units responded to reports of a fire in the wall of an apartment complex. When units arrived they saw smoke coming from the exterior of the wall on the building, and used an attack line to quickly extinguish the fire. Firefighters went inside one of the apartments to open the wall and extinguish any hotspots remaining.

No body was injured in the incident and all residents were able to make it out of the building. The fire was contained to where it started and only one apartment unit received damage.

Whitesburg Fire Units responded to a vehicle fire at Long John Silvers. Upon arrival units found a vehicle with fire involved in the engine bay.
Units were able to contain the fire to the engine bay and save belongings in the vehicle. No body was injured from the fire.

Whitesburg Fire units responded to a residence with smoke in the laundry room. After a search it was determined to be smoke from sewer line testing.
Crews are currently putting white fog in sewer lines and it is possible to have some come through open pipes. This fog is not dangerous.
We don’t want residents to hesitate to call 911 if you suspect a fire in your home.

Whitesburg Fire units responded to a report of an accident on the bypass near the hospital. When units arrived they found a vehicle in the ditch, nobody was injured in this accident. Units remained on scene to assist with traffic control.

Tonight we had our annual banquet to give awards to our volunteer firefighters. We also celebrated one of our retired volunteer’s birthday.

In 2025, the Whitesburg Fire Department responded to 66 emergencies. Of those calls we had 1 structure fire, 12 accidents with injuries, 15 EMS assistance, and 24 fire alarms.

Awards were given out in three categories; Most calls responded to, most trainings attended, and most training hours.

Aaron Sexton also won an award for Junior Firefighter of the year.
