A four-peat is no easy feat!

Congratulations to the Oriskany Varsity Baseball team on winning its fourth straight Section III Class D title against McGraw, 8-4. Oriskany is 19-0 this season, has won 37 games in-a-row, is ranked No. 1 in New York State and is the defending New York State Class D champion.

Best of luck to the Oriskany Skyhawks in the state tournament!

At last night’s meeting, the Whitestown Town Board presented Vince Coyne with a proclamation in recognition of his outstanding service on the Mohawk Valley Water Authority (MVWA) Governance Board.

Vince proudly and effectively represented the Town of Whitestown and the greater Mohawk Valley region on the MVWA Board – a volunteer position – for 29 years before retiring at the end of last year. Prior to his time on the MVWA Board, Vince served on the Citizens’ Task Force on Regionalization, which explored opportunities for consolidation and shared services. The task force ultimately recommended, among other ideas, the purchase of the Utica water system by a regional water authority consisting of appointed representatives from the City of Utica and surrounding towns and villages. The regional water authority became the MVWA.

Vince knows the importance of partnerships, and we are all better off because of his strong leadership and forward thinking.

Thank you, Vince, for all that you have done to better our community, county and region!

I was honored to attend the 75th Anniversary Gala for the Utica Chapter of the White Eagle Association at the Utica Polish Community Club on Saturday night. I was also honored to present a proclamation marking the milestone on behalf of Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente.

Founded in 1950, the White Eagle Association proudly promotes the Polish culture within our local community, and its meetings are still conducted in Polish. My grandparents once served as officers for the Association, and its mission will always be important to me.

Gratulacje (congratulations) on 75 years!

I was pleased to work with and help the Village of Oriskany secure $125,000 from Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon for a new and improved playground at Trinkaus Park. After much anticipation, the playground opened over the weekend.

I also appreciated the opportunity to participate in the dedication of a “Liberty Tree” at Trinkaus Park. The tree was dedicated in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the United States and all the Patriots who bravely fought for American independence. Thank you to the Oneida County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and the Oriskany Museum and Historical Society for organizing.

Wishing you a very Happy and Blessed Easter!

It was an honor to attend the Yorkville Volunteer Fire Department’s annual installation banquet over the weekend at Monarch Banquets. I was especially honored to present Yorkville Fire Commissioner Dave Morosco with the 2026 Town of Whitestown Outstanding Service Award.

The award is given annually to a volunteer who goes above and beyond the call of duty in service to their community.

Congratulations to Dave and all others who were recognized for their contributions, along with the newly elected civil and line officers.

Thank you, YFD, for all that you do!

I look forward to “Irish Week” every year.

From the 111th Annual Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Dinner at Twin Ponds to mass at St. Joe’s/St. Pat’s with the Ancient Order of Hibernians to the Utica St. Patrick’s Day Parade itself, the many festivities never disappoint. And, not even a little snow and *a lot* of wind can dampen the spirit.

Great job to all of the parade organizers, led by Pat McGrath, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

The Shillelagh has been passed!

Congratulations, once again, to Bob Sullivan on being named Grand Marshal of the 2026 Utica St. Patrick’s Day Parade - it’s now official.

It was nice to see so many turnout for the annual Grand Marshal reception.
