Today we had the honor of escorting the fallen heroes, Brenna Kulikowski and Damon Thompson, back to Show Low. Brenna did her ride alongs for paramedic school with our department and Damon is a relative to one of our very own paramedics. We not only paid our respects to them, but also to the Timber Mesa Medical and Fire District. Timber Mesa assists the WMAT with inter-facility transports out of Whiteriver IHS, structure fires, and with medical calls that occur on our reservation.

On behalf of White Mountain Apache Tribe, we would like to say thank you for all the times you’ve helped us. We stand with you and our hearts and prayers are with you in this time of sadness and loss.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the Timber Mesa Fire & Medical District and the families of the two fallen firefighters.

Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District is saddened to announce the line of duty deaths of two of our firefighters on September 14, 2025. The firefighters were involved in a traffic collision on State Route 260. The collision is under investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Out of respect for the families, the names of our firefighters will be released once notifications have been made and as time permits. We ask that the media and the public respect the family’s privacy of the fallen firefighters and to refrain from sharing unverified information. Please rely on official statements from Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District or other vetted sources.

Our entire organization is grieving the loss of our team members. We ask for privacy and compassion as we support the families, co-workers, and community during this very difficult time.
