As winter weather approaches, the City of Whitehouse wants residents to know the steps we have taken to help protect our water system during freezing conditions.

Since Winter Storm Uri, the City has made significant investments to strengthen system reliability, including:
• Insulating above-ground water pipes
• Installing heated wire along exposed piping
• Adding an additional generator at our largest water-producing plant to support continued operations during power outages

These improvements help ensure water production and distribution remain as stable as possible during severe cold weather. However, plumbing and service lines located on private property are the most common source of winter water disruptions.

To help keep water flowing at your home or business, residents are encouraged to:
• Insulate exposed pipes, service lines, and outdoor faucets
• Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses
• Allow faucets to drip during extended freezing temperatures
• Open cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing

City leadership has met to review weather forecasts and plan for the possibility of severe winter weather. Our teams will continue monitoring conditions and will provide updates as needed.

Taking these steps now can help prevent frozen pipes and avoid potential water loss during cold weather. Thank you for helping protect your home and our community’s water system.
