Today, members of the Readington Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit conducted a pedestrian safety crosswalk detail on Main Street (Whitehouse Station) in conjunction with the Street Smart NJ campaign.

In just 1.5 hours, officers conducted 16 motor vehicle stops for crosswalk-related violations. As part of this educational initiative, only written warnings were issued.

Drivers were also provided educational pamphlets containing important safety tips for both motorists and pedestrians to help improve awareness and promote safer roadways for everyone.

The Street Smart NJ campaign focuses on reducing pedestrian-related crashes through education, awareness, and enforcement. We encourage all motorists to remain alert, yield to pedestrians in marked crosswalks, and help keep our community safe.
