25 YEARS LATER — WE REMEMBER

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 lives were tragically lost in the attacks on our nation.

Among those lost were 16 residents of Hunterdon County, including two men from Readington Township.

🇺🇸 Timothy Gilbert, along with his brother Anthony, worked for the financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald and perished that day. Timothy left behind his wife and four children.

🇺🇸 T.J. Hargrave, who also worked for Cantor Fitzgerald, lost his life in the North Tower. T.J. left behind his wife and three daughters.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the lives they lived, the families they left behind, and the countless others whose lives were forever changed that day.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

🦌Deer hunting season will begin Saturday, September 12th and with the start of the new season, the Readington Deer Management Program (RDMP) will continue its efforts to manage the Township’s overabundant white tailed deer population. Through extensive planning and meetings with Township officials and volunteers, the RDMP will incorporate over 2,000 acres of Township Open Space in the program this season. Local hunters who applied to be a part of the program have all been vetted through our Readington Police Department and have all taken part in a detailed safety briefing setting up responsibilities and expectations for all.

This past season, RDMP efforts resulted in the harvest of 506 deer marking a 5% increase from last season and accounted for over 50% of all deer harvested in Readington! Equally as important, hunters in the RDMP have donated 225 deer over the last 4 seasons to the charitable 501-C(3) organization, Hunters Helping the Hungry. This incredible organization distributes fresh venison to local food kitchens and pantries across New Jersey, and Readington hunters provided over 7,500 pounds of venison and over 30,000 servings of a highly nutritious food option for those in need!

The RDMP and its participants are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to our community in this meaningful way, and we encourage anyone interested in learning more about the Readington Deer Management Program or becoming involved to visit the township website at www.readington.gov. Thank you for your continued support!
