Safety Day Camp! ☀️🌳
The Health Department had an amazing time collaborating with UW-Extension at Pietrick Park for Safety Day Camp! Our Health Officer Kai, shared valuable information about ticks, ways to prevent tick bites, and the importance of staying hydrated while enjoying the outdoors.
It's always a great day when we can learn, explore, and have fun outside. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this educational and enjoyable event!

Need a little extra help with groceries this summer?

Feed My People Food Bank will be hosting three Pop-Up Food Pantries at Living Hope Lutheran Church in Ettrick on the following dates:

June 16
July 21
August 18

🕒 10:30–11:30 a.m.

Everyone is welcome. No identification is required. You will only be asked for the ages of individuals in your household(s). One person may pick up food for up to four households.

Would you know the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning?

Headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, and confusion can easily be mistaken for the flu, dehydration, or exhaustion. But if symptoms improve when you leave the area, carbon monoxide could be the reason.

CO detection is so important.

Know the signs. Trust your symptoms. Get to fresh air and call for help if you suspect CO exposure.

Don't forget that babies and young kids have thinner skin than adults, which can make them more prone to serious burns. When you're gearing up for some time out in the sun, remember these tips from :

🧴Apply generously and liberally to all exposed areas, especially the face, nose, ears, feet and hands, and even the backs of the knees

😎 Wear sunglasses with UV protection. Look for child-sized sunglasses with UV protection too.

☀️ Limit sun exposure between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm when UV rays are strongest.

👶 Keep babies younger than 6 months out of direct sunlight. Find shade under a tree, an umbrella, or stroller canopy.

⛅ Remember that you can get sunburn even on cloudy days because up to 80% of the sun’s UV rays can get through the clouds and UV rays can bounce back from water, sand, snow, and concrete.
