Today is Flag Day, a time to recognize the American flag as a symbol of freedom, unity and service and what it represents to the nation.
Did you know there is a proper way to retire an American flag when it is no longer fit for display? The Trempealeau County Veterans Office operates a flag retirement program to ensure worn and damaged flags are respectfully honored and properly disposed of. Thank you to the Veterans Office for providing this important service to the community.
Residents can drop off flags that are faded, torn or otherwise no longer suitable for display at the Trempealeau County Government Center, 18600 Hobson St., Whitehall, for proper retirement.
Wishing you a meaningful and patriotic Flag Day.
