Now that I have wrapped up my three-year term as a Village Trustee, I’m filled with gratitude for having had the opportunity to serve. In an ideal world, I would’ve loved to continue, but the reality is that I couldn’t give the role the time and attention it truly deserves. Still, this experience has been incredibly meaningful.
Over the past three years, I’ve learned so much- about how local government works, about the value of methodical, iterative change, and about the strength of our community. I’ve been continually inspired by how committed my fellow trustees are, how hard our village staff works behind the scenes, and how passionate, informed, and engaged our community is.
I truly believe everyone in our community should spend some time in a role like this. It gives you a whole new appreciation for how much work goes into making the magic of Whitefish Bay happen- all the little things we often take for granted.
I’m proud to have been part of efforts like helping move the Fox Bay Theatre toward a new chapter, contributing to our strategic planning, and supporting public health through lead lateral education and pedestrian and bike safety.
I want to thank you, my neighbors and friends, for your support, your encouragement, and your engagement.
This isn’t goodbye- just so long. I’ll continue to advocate for clean air, bike / pedestrian safety, and healthy living in my role as medical advisor to the North Shore Health Department, and I look forward to staying engaged in this incredible community.
Thank you for the honor of serving,
Jay
