Reading is the foundation of education. Schools should be student-centered in philosophy, organization, and educational practices. There are many ways to motivate students to graduate and continue the life-long learning process. Each student can reach his/her fullest academic and social potential. Successful schools develop partnerships among parents, schools, students, businesses, and the communi

ty. Civic and community involvement is an important component of each student's education. Education should be based on strong basic skills, that also encompass creative usage, problem-solving, critical and analytical thinking, and cooperative work traits. Success in the modern workplace requires schools and students to be proficient in the use of technology. Sound fiscal management includes maintaining a minimum cash reserve of five percent of the district's budget. Education is enhanced in safe and well-maintained facilities. All students and their families are welcome in our schools and all our activities.

It was a hands-on day full of valuable knowledge, skill-building, and fun as members worked to become more confident and successful exhibitors. Some of our Columbia High School students are turning engineering into empathy, spending months designing a device that converts color into sound, created specifically for a local fourth grader who is colorblind. Their work, made possible through a partnership with the Gorge MakerSpace and national nonprofit Project Invent, recently earned them a spot at Demo Day in San Francisco. We are so proud!

WHITE SALMON — On May 14, a trio of Columbia High School juniors will travel to San Francisco to pitch their months-long, user-centered engineering project, which converts color into sound.

🎓 Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

Thirteen years. Thirteen years of early mornings, homework, tests, and everything in between – and today it all came together. A little rain couldn’t dim that.

A huge thank you to Mr. McCauley for his words today – and for the reminder that life is meant to be lived all seven days of the week, not just the ones that feel like a Friday. Although, let’s be honest… Friday is pretty great. 😄
