A Message of Thanks from the Chief of Police

On behalf of the Hartford Police Department, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in and supported this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

This event is a demonstration of community spirit and commitment to supporting Special Olympics athletes, and its success would not have been possible without the dedication of many individuals and organizations throughout our community.

A special thank you to the Hartford Fire Department for participating in the run and providing a rolling roadblock to ensure the safety of all participants along the route.

We also extend our appreciation to the Department of Public Works for their assistance with traffic control and helping keep the event running safely and smoothly.

Thank you to Hartford Parks and Recreation for providing transportation support and for the use of Lyman Park and the bandstand.

We are especially grateful to the White River Rotary Club for generously providing the food, grill, and volunteers who helped make the post-run gathering such a success. A special thank you to Mr. Burnham for donating his time and talents to prepare and grill for all those in attendance.

I would also like to recognize the Hartford Police Department’s Administrative Assistant Ta Clarke, Officer Peter Cronin, and Officer Bryce Moody for their countless hours of planning, coordination, and participation. Their dedication and hard work were instrumental in organizing a successful event and ensuring everything came together seamlessly.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who ran, walked, biked volunteered, donated, cheered from the sidelines, or otherwise contributed to making this event a success. Your efforts help support Special Olympics athletes and promote inclusion, determination, and community throughout our region.

We are proud to be part of a community that consistently comes together in support of such a meaningful cause.

Go Upper Valley Hawks!

Thank you for helping make this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run a success.

Chief Connie Kelley,
Hartford Police Department

Last week during Hartford High School’s H-Term, Lt. Furnari and Cpl. Leombruno were invited to teach R**e Aggression Defense (RAD) training.

H-Term is a three-day intensive where students join teachers in an area of interest where they learn and explore together.

This nationally recognized self-defense program for women focuses on realistic tactics and techniques, with an emphasis on awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and physical defense.

The training provided students with valuable hands-on skills while also creating opportunities for thoughtful discussion about personal safety, confidence, and preparedness.

The Hartford Police Department appreciates the opportunity to partner with Hartford High School and support programs that empower students through education and preparedness.
