⚠️ Flash flood warning is in effect for White Plains through at least 10:30am Sunday with a flood watch continuing into the afternoon.

The National Weather Services is forecasting the heavy rain to continue for the next few hours, with hourly rainfall rates potentially reaching up to two inches. This type of excessive rainfall can lead to flash flooding in areas near rivers and locations with poor drainage.

⚠️ Use Caution! Do not drive through flooded roadways. You cannot see how deep the water is, and there may be additional hazards hidden underwater.

Flash floods can escalate quickly and it only takes a few inches of rain to knock you off your feet or sweep your car away.

Stay Safe and report travel hazards so that emergency crews can respond.

For more safety tips visit: https://www.dhses.ny.gov/flood. Continue monitoring updates to the forecast via local media or your nearest National Weather Service Office by visiting www.weather.gov.

🇺🇸 This morning we gathered in solemn remembrance at the White Plains 9/11 Memorial to honor the lives lost and sacrifices made.

White Plains Public Safety helped us pay tribute to all first responders while students from the White Plains School District joined the Common Council to place flowers alongside the names of the six residents we lost 25 years ago.

Among those remembered was Joe Riverso. His nephew, Stepinac High School student Joseph Riverso, delivered a moving opening prayer in his uncle's memory.

In recognition of the 25th anniversary, Mayor Justin Brasch dedicated a maple tree as a living reminder of those we lost — and a symbol of peace, strength and resilience for generations to come.
