Registration is open for our Fall OCD Intensive program for adolescents (Oct 9-12)!

In this four-day CBT program with a strong focus on intensive exposure and response prevention practice, adolescents who struggle with OCD will learn tools to manage OCD, face their fears, improve day-to-day functioning and accomplish their goals. Research shows that intensive CBT treatments lead to more powerful short term gains than weekly treatments, and that weekly treatments are necessary to build on and maintain these gains. Participants will engage in both group and individualized exposure and response prevention practice to maximize benefits. Given that intensive programs lead to rapid gains, this program is recommended as an intermittent booster and/or as a jump-start to ongoing individual treatment. The ***de rates across the county are startlingly high, especially among minority groups. And they're growing.

September is ***deawarenessmonth. This startling picture is a wake up call that we are losing too many people to su***de. We need to do more to reduce su***de rates: more prevention, more intervention and more connecting ethnic and racial groups with the help that they need.

for adolescents is considered the only well-established treatment for reducing suicidal behavior among youth. DBT strategically blends behavior therapy (change orientation) with validation (acceptance orientation). This treatment approach teaches all of us that we are doing the best we can AND at the same time we need to learn alternative ways to manage our problems more effectively. Learning how to think and act dialectically helps individuals achieve a more balanced lifestyle which ultimately helps people move toward having a life that feels more meaningful and worth living.

Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants of Westchester and Manhattan specializes in DBT for all ages and is the only -Linehan Board Certified Program in New York State.

To read more about DBT, make appointment for our services or refer a friend or family member for treatment, please visit cbc-psychology.com.

Researchers at the College of William & Mary found that living thoughtfully — practicing mindfulness, cognition and openness to experience — to be correlated with psychological well-being.
