Today marks 16 years since the loss of our friend, colleague, and brother, Detective Michael Perry, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on June 12, 2010.

Mike was more than a dedicated and courageous police officer. He was a trusted friend, a devoted family member, and a public servant whose commitment to others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His character, professionalism, and selfless service continue to inspire members of our department each and every day.

While sixteen years have passed, Mike's memory remains a permanent part of the White Plains Police Department. His legacy lives on through those who carry forward his dedication to duty, his compassion for others, and his unwavering commitment to justice.

Today, we pause to honor Detective Perry and all law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. We ask that you keep Mike's family, friends, and fellow officers in your thoughts and prayers as we remember a life of service, courage, and honor.

If you're celebrating with friends and family, please make a game plan before the game starts. Choose a designated driver, use a rideshare service, call a friend, or arrange a safe ride home.

To help keep our community safe, you'll see additional White Plains Police personnel on patrol throughout the evening. Our goal is simple: to help everyone enjoy the game, celebrate responsibly, and get home safely.

Public Safety and DPW personnel are actively responding to multiple storm-related incidents throughout the City.

Current reported incidents include:

• North Street at Homeside Lane – Large tree down with wires down and sparking. North Street is closed at Spruce Drive.
• 2 Hewitt Avenue – Ridgeway is closed between Hewitt Avenue and Pilgrim Road due to two utility poles down and a sparking transformer.
• 64 Prescott Avenue – Large branch down across the roadway.
• 12 Gendey Park Drive – Large tree down on utility wires in the yard.
• 27 Saxon Woods Road – Large branch down.
• 25 Lake Street – Sparking utility pole.
• Central Westchester Parkway at Clinton Street – Tree down.

Crews are working to assess and address these conditions as quickly and safely as possible. Motorists are urged to avoid affected areas and seek alternate routes.

Please stay away from downed wires, and report trees and wires down to the Police Department.

Congratulations to our three newest graduates of the Westchester County Police Academy!

After successfully completing months of rigorous academic, physical, and practical training, these officers are now prepared to begin the next chapter of their careers serving the residents of White Plains. Good morning, White Plains!

Yesterday, the Youth Police Initiative was in full swing as local youth joined members of the White Plains Youth Bureau, Grandpas United, and White Plains Public Safety for a fun-filled ice cream social.

With beautiful weather, great conversations, and plenty of smiles, it was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen connections, build relationships, and bring our community together. Events like these remind us that meaningful engagement often starts with simply spending time together.
