RELEASE: MDH has issued an expanded consumer advisory for all cheese products from Clover Hill Dairy in Mechanicsville, Md. due to possible Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) contamination. The facility has agreed to issue a voluntary recall for all cheese products.

Clover Hill Soft Ricotta/Requeson cheese was distributed from May 4th, 2026 through May 30th, 2026 in the following states: North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington, DC through bulk distributors, retail stores and directly to consumers.

The Charles County Department of Health is reminding our residents and businesses that the Maryland Department of the Environment open burning prohibition is in effect annually between June 1 and August 31. The prohibition does not affect backyard barbeque grilling or open fires for recreational purposes, such as small campfires. Click the following link for more information:
