From :
"On May 18th, 17 students from 11 Westchester fire departments completed their first 129 hours of fire training by completing Firefighter I.
Over the course of nearly 3 months, these dedicated students sacrificed nights and Saturdays after work, school, and other activities, to learn the knowledge, skills, and abilities to serve their communities as volunteer firefighters.
Many thanks to the State and County Fire Instructors who put their time and energy into educating and training these brave volunteers, and the many others currently in the Firefighter I program.
Please join DES in congratulating these newly-minted firefighters on their hard work!"
Shoutout to our very own .gx3_for completing this arduous task! Congratulations!

Last week our department payed our final respects to life member Thomas Keery, shield 292. Tommy joined North White Plains FD in April of 1980 and quickly became very involved, serving on numerous committee and projects. Tommy's enthusiasm and love for the fire service could be seen from day 1. Tommy went on to become a firefighter with the FDNY. As life paves a path, Tommy moved out of town but continued to to attend department functions and events. Tommy went on to serve his communities in both River Edge NJ Fire Dept and the Pearl River Fire Dept after his time in North White Plains.

The members of North White Plains will never forget Tommy, #292.

This week members of the Fire Company travelled to the Seagrave Fire Apparatus factory along with Hudson Valley Fire Equipment, LLC to conduct the final inspection on the refurbished Ladder 47. The 2001 "Mean Stick" was constructed 20 years ago with the full intention of refurbishment at the 20 year mark, and today those plans became reality.

The refurbishment process resulted in the complete removal, refurbishing, and re-certification of the aerial device, hydraulic system and the associated components, along with several safety upgrades to the vehicle and aerial device.

Ladder 47 will begin its journey back to Westchester shortly. We look forward to seeing this versatile truck back serving the North White Plains community and our neighboring agencies in the coming weeks.

Today Ladder 47 begins its journey back to Wisconsin to the Seagrave refurb factory to begin the refurbishment process. Ladder 47, a 2001 Seagrave “Meanstick” was placed into service 19 years ago tomorrow on 9/11/2001 following the relocation of other fire apparatus from NWPFD into NYC on that tragic day.

Since being placed into service, Ladder 47 has served as an invaluable asset to North White Plains and surrounding communities. It’s versatile, yet simple set up allows for maximum functionality at structural fires and incidents of varying sizes and types.

While Ladder 47 is out for refurb, Engine 75, a 1998 Seagrave, will be running second due with Engine 74, a 2010 Seagrave, taking on first due assignments. Engine 75 was purchased from the Pelham FD about 1 year ago in anticipation of this process.

Special thanks to the Board of Fire Commissioners and the Apparatus Committee for diligent work to provide quality resources to the community, while also maintaining the highest level of financial responsibility.
