After receiving numerous complaints of juveniles purchasing ma*****na, THC infused candy and THC v***r products, at this location and others throughout the Town and its Villages, members of the Greenburgh Police Department and Greenburgh Drug & Alcohol Task Force with the assistance of the New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) conducted an inspection of Scarsdale Convenience located at 455 S. Central Avenue. Members confiscated large amounts of unpermitted loose ma*****na, packaged ma*****na, THC edibles, THC v***r products, psilocybin infused candy and untaxed ci******es. It was disturbing to find that a large majority of the packaging was clearly designed to entice kids and young adults, including labels such as "Fruity Pebbles" and “Reese’s” and flavors described as “pink lemonade” and “strawberry ice cream”. The store was shut down using the current tools at our disposal, building code violations. Unfortunately, with the current cannabis laws in flux, there is no other mechanism within the penal law to enforce the unlawful products alone.
There are currently no stores in the Town of Greenburgh or its Villages licensed for cannabis retail. Any location that is selling ma*****na is doing so unlawfully and will be subject to inspection.
Authorities say nearly 700 THC products were found at Scarsdale Convenience. The shop, located at 445 South Central Ave., does not have a license to sell.
