If you received a letter from my office in collaboration with NYS Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assemblymember Amy Paulin and Assemblymember MaryJane Shimsky sharing that you or someone in your household has currently being held by NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli: 1. The letter is legitimate, and I encourage you to read through it and follow its recommended steps; and 2. My elected counterparts and I, along with staff from the Comptroller's office, will be present at the Public Library on Oct. 17 from noon-3 p.m. to offer hands-on guidance, assistance and reassurance for any claimant who needs it or simply wants to learn more about Unclaimed Funds.

Congratulations are in order for one my office's summer interns, Abby Lew, an High graduate and incoming freshman at The George Washington University, has received a Girl Scout Gold Award for her project, "Remembering Hometown WWII Heroes," which centered on the stories of 14 fallen former Ardsley students who lost their lives while serving in World War II.

She presented their stories at the 2025 Ardsley Military Tribute Banner Walk and several Girl Scout events as part of Troop 2300, in addition to launching the Instagram account , which is populated with posts that seek to honor and remember the lives and sacrifice of Ardsley’s 14 fallen soldiers.

Way to go Abby, and thank you for your community service.

Thank you IACAW for welcoming me at this past weekend’s 80th Indian Independence Day celebration — marking the country’s emergence out from under decades of colonial rule — and flag-raising in downtown White Plains. Working alongside the local Indian American community as part of broader AAPI recognition and advocacy has been one of the joys of my time on the Westchester County Board of Legislators.

All are welcome at this weekend's 50th Annual Westchester Jewish Music & Arts Festival at in .

The festival is co-sponsored by Westchester County Parks and Westchester Jewish Council, free and open to the public and taking place rain or shine. It will feature a vendors/exhibitors area and musical performances throughout the day, in addition to a Wondesparks Puppets Show sponsored by PJ Library. Food will be available for purchase as well.

Congratulations to the entire staff and administration of Irvington Union Free School District's Dows Lane Elementary for receiving the 2026 National Gold Star School Award at the National Association of Elementary School Principals Gold Star Schools Awards ceremony in Orlando.

It’s been nearly 30 years since I myself graduated from Dows, and I am heartened to see that district superintendent Dr. Maria Ratesic and Downs Lane principal Andrea Kantor (pictured here at second from left and center, respectively) are carrying its legacy into the future. Celebrate a senior who has made a positive difference in by nominating them for this year's Westchester County Government Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.

To be nominated, a person must:
● Be at least 60 years old or older, live in Westchester, & not be a past inductee; list of past honorees at seniorcitizens.westchestercounyny.gov
● Have made significant contributions to improving life in Westchester County
● Be an outstanding leader or advocate
● Have done professional work that reflects innovative solutions to fulfill unmet community needs (if a nomination is based on paid professional work)

Nominations are due by Wednesday, September 9, 2026, and will be reviewed by a judging committee. A nomination should be submitted for each person, with organizations and individuals to be allowed one nomination only.
