As the year draws to a close, we wish to say 'thanks!' to all who visited the Glassworker's House and to the dedicated volunteers who made it possible for us to remain open throughout the summer. Your support and commitment are invaluable to our mission.
For those who were unable to visit this year, we sincerely hope to welcome you in the coming season.
Together, by preserving history through physical exhibits and personal accounts, we ensure that the stories of the past remain alive and accessible for future generations. The history of the Glassworker's House offers a vivid window into the lives of 19th-century glass factory workers. These individuals worked, lived, and built new lives here in White Mills, helping to shape the community we know today. Their descendants continue to share their histories and knowledge, ensuring that this legacy endures and is never forgotten.
As many of you know, the upkeep of a historic structure is never easy. Beyond the usual needs of painting, cleaning, and roofing, specialized expertise is often required to make appropriate repairs. Many of the skills once common in the past are now rare and demand a unique blend of craftsmanship and historical knowledge. Finding such expertise—and being able to afford it—can often be at odds with maintaining historical integrity.
