For 50 years, the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund has invested in Michigan’s outdoor spaces, providing nearly $1.4 billion in funding through more than 3,000 grants to state and local governments. These investments have expanded recreation opportunities and preserved natural resources for residents and visitors across the state.
Established in 1976, the Trust Fund is supported by interest and earnings generated from revenues derived from state-owned oil, gas, and mineral resources. Those funds are used to acquire public lands for conservation and outdoor recreation, as well as to support the development of parks and recreational facilities.
White Lake Township has been fortunate to benefit from this program, receiving approximately $1.7 million in grant funding for park projects over the years. These funds helped support improvements at Bloomer Park and the acquisition of land that became Stanley Park, creating lasting recreational opportunities for our community.
We are grateful for the continued investment in Michigan’s parks and outdoor spaces and look forward to building on this legacy for future generations.
