Why not bring back some of our RETIRED TEACHERS to boost results in the Walled Lake school district? First, we know that we are losing our school MVPs to retirement 44% faster than in prior years (https://bit.ly/3wUiZT1)

Senator Jim Runstead's Sept 2 newsletter highlighted a new law that makes it easier for retired teachers to return to the classroom.
Public Act 184 of 2022 (https://bit.ly/3Rzoo9Q) alleviates much of the red tape that makes it difficult for retired teachers and other school employees to return to work at a Michigan public school. The new law provides more flexibility and reduces the cost for Michigan school districts facing a teacher shortage, particularly in critical shortage areas.

These changes, recently signed into law by the governor, would not affect the retiree’s pension or health care benefits as long the retiree waits at least nine months after retiring to return to work.

Not sure what to believe about controversial s*x and gender topics in our schools? Tired of the noise, distraction and politically heated accusations from all sides? Sometimes a new school year, or just a crazy new world force us to adopt new approaches.

This year, many parents are taking a "just in case" approach to their kids' education. Set expectations as the school year begins by OPTING-OUT of s*xual content and norms you don't want to see embedded in your child's public school education. Then mindfully choose what’s best for them and for you.

Sexual content in school is a CHOICE according to Michigan law. Go on record with your wishes if you are uncomfortable or even just uncertain about content that may show up. If you have no such concerns, then you'll be happy to know there's nothing "extra" or special for you to do.
