Today was our annual pump testing on several of our apparatus. We have this done to make sure the equipment is up to spec and catch any issues we donโ€™t see on our truck checks. We also do this for ISO rating and be in compliance with NFPA 1911. Pictured is Engine 51 and Tender 67 out of Station 2.

Itโ€™s almost time to โ€œspringโ€ ahead! ๐ŸŒท
When you change your clocks on March 8th, remember:
๐Ÿ”” Press TEST on every smoke alarm
๐Ÿ”‹ Replace batteries if you do not have sealed-battery smoke alarms
๐Ÿ“… Check the expiration date (they only last 10 years!)

A quick check today can make a life-saving difference tomorrow.

Old Man Winter isnโ€™t done with us yet and that means fire risks are still very real across Illinois. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

As temperatures stay low and heating equipment continues running around the clock, now is the time to double down on fire safety.

โœ… Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn
โœ… Never use ovens or stovetops to heat your home
โœ… Have furnaces, fireplaces, and chimneys inspected and cleaned
โœ… Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms monthly
โœ… Never leave candles unattended

Heating equipment is one of the leading causes of home fires during the winter months. A few simple precautions can make all the difference in keeping your family safe.

Stay warm. Stay alert. Stay safe, Illinois. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ

There are already multiple fires burning in Central Illinois. Please be responsible and do not burn today.

Have you ever thought about joining a volunteer fire department? Look no further. Mid-Piatt Fire Protection District has two stations located in White Heath at 1220E Old Rt 47 (station 1) and in Monticello at 1201 Raymond Rd (station 2) and is actively looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. No experience is necessary as we will train you to be the best you can be, especially with one of the greatest training facilities there is at Illinois Fire Service Institute just a hop and skip away, at no cost to you.

Some of the areas we cover are 12 miles Interstate 72, most of Allerton Park, White Heath, and unincorporated parts of Monticello.

We run fire, rescue, and EMS calls. We partake in a variety of events such as parades, medical standby, and touch a truck to name a few.

Whether you live in Monticello, White Heath or anywhere in between and you would like to make a positive impact in the community, you can send me a message personally, send us an email, or stop by station 1 in White Heath on the first or third Thursday of each month at 6pm.

Thanks,
