Tonight at the county fire meeting our department honored Ron Gilmore for 40 years of service to our community. Ron will be retiring from the department in March. We would like thank him for his years of dedication and service to the department. Ron has trained and assisted many young fireman throughout the years with his knowledge and expertise. His leadership will he missed.

Today, the Roodhouse Fire Protection District, White Hall Fire Protection District, and Greene County EMS collaborated to deliver a fire safety presentation for the North Greene elementary school. presentation featuring a smoke house demonstration provided by the Greenfield Fire District. Students from Pre-K through sixth grade received essential information on how to respond in the event of a fire emergency. The children had the opportunity to explore the smoke house, tour fire trucks and ambulance, and were presented with parting gifts provided by the State Fire Marshal's Office. This event proved to be an effective training day for the students and an enjoyable experience for our first responders.

Last night we hosted our annual county wide fire meeting and even had a special guest from the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Jon Williams, Fire Certified Specialist II, has been in contact with each of our departments and has been assisting us with trainings and making information more accessible to us. We are thankful to be in touch and glad you came!

At our annual meeting, we gather and feed personnel from each fire department in the county and discuss the calls we have faced and things to note about these calls.

Through West Central Joint Dispatch, our local fire departments operate under an automatic mutual aid contract to quickly provide our volunteer departments with the help they need.

We are happy to get to host this meeting as it improves our relationship and partnerships with our surrounding first responder family.

The White Hall fire district is pleased to report. Our fireman that was injured yesterday, has been released from the hospital and is home recovering.  We are still praying for no long lasting effects from the injuries. We also want to thank him for his service and dedication to the department and our community.

This morning, the White Hall fire department responded to a structure fire of an apartment building on Centennial Street in White Hall. All occupants were out upon our arrival however, one suffered minor burns. One fireman was also injured suffering from smoke inhalation. We would like to think the Roodhouse fire department, Carrollton Fire department, Greene County, EMS and Wi******er EMS for assisting us this morning. Please keep our fireman in your prayers as he recovers. Also, please pray for the occupants of the apratments as they recover from this fire.

It appears it's gonna be another dry Harvest season. Last season we responded to many field/brush fires and multiple Combine fires, luckily all we're saved. So definitely stay vigilant this year and don't hesitate to call us if you need us. Dial 911 or the Greene county sheriff's office at 217-942-6901..
