Good Morning, Prosperity Group of Hardy Dam!
Thank you for your continued commitment to the Hardy Dam. I am writing to inform you about an important update regarding the Hardy Dam Spillway construction project.
Temporary Pause in Construction: Due to ongoing RFP negotiations on the future outcome of the company’s 13 hydroelectric facilities, we have decided to temporarily pause this project. This pause will be effective immediately. The pause in the spillway project does not impact the overall RFP process, and please remember that no decisions have been made.
Impact on Project Timeline: Last year, we sought regulatory approval to begin work on a four-year project to replace the spillway at our Hardy Dam facility. While this pause is necessary, we are committed to keeping you informed about any changes to the project timeline and providing updates as soon as we have more information.
Community and Safety Impact: The work scheduled to be completed was proactive, and the pause should create no safety concerns. More importantly, we will refill the Hardy Pond before the Memorial Day Holiday and the unofficial start to summer, so residents and visitors can use the river.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate this project and the overall RFP process. We will keep you updated with any further developments.
As always, the safety of our customers, co-workers, and communities we serve is always a top priority for Consumers Energy.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or additional feedback.
