We will be conducting live fire training today at the 5300 block of East County Line Rd N. There will be smoke and fire coming from the structure. This training is an excellent opportunity for us to sharpen our skills.

It was 25 years ago today that our country was surprised by a brutal attack that took thousands of lives, including 343 Firefighters of the FDNY. Their bravery and service to others before self was demonstrated to the highest level that day. We remember them and all who were lost that day. We will never forget.

On Friday, our Explorers and their advisors headed to the Minnesota State Fair to participate in the Governor’s Fire Prevention Day events. One of the events on this day is the annual Fire Explorer competition. This is comprised of young adults, ages 14-21 from fire departments throughout the region. The competition includes events that test their skills in ladder raising, search and rescue, gear donning, spinal immobilization, CPR & AED, a combat challenge relay, a written test and a public education presentation. This was the first competition this group of Explorers had competed in. They took 5th place out of 12 teams. Please join us in congratualting them!

After 42 years with the City of White Bear Lake, Connie Anderson is retiring. Today is her last day with the Fire Department. Please join us in congratulating her. We wish her the very best in her well-deserved retirement!

Due to the unhealthy air quality outside, we will not be participating in Public Safety Night at Marketfest tonight. We are bummed that this is the case as we look forward to this night every year. We plan to be back next week, so hopefully we will see you then!
