Recently, there's been an increased awareness of solicitors in our area. Solicitation is legal, but "no solicitation" and "no trespassing" signs can help prevent people from coming onto your property. The Code of Ordinances regarding Solicitors was amended on 10/9/24.

Chapter D, Article IV, Section 2. Going on Private Property Without Invitation -

(A) No person may go upon residential premises for the purpose of door-to-door sales or solicitations of any kind after sunset, or 8:00 PM, whichever is earlier, or before 8:00 AM.

(B) No person shall go upon residential premises or attempt to reach the occupants of a residence by ringing a doorbell, knocking on a door, or otherwise attempting to gain the attention or presence of an occupant if there is posted any sort of notice to the effect of "no soliciting" or "no trespassing" or any other message that a reasonable person would understand to mean that the occupant does not want any uninvited persons to intrude on the peace and quiet of their residence.

The N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Program launched its "Operation Firecracker Booze It & Lose It" campaign today to promote safe driving and to crack down on impaired driving ahead of the Independence Day holiday weekend.

Every year, the Fourth of July ranks as one of the deadliest holidays nationwide due to drinking and driving. The "Booze It & Lose It" campaign serves as a reminder that there are severe consequences for reckless behavior.

It has come to our attention that children are chasing behind passenger cars and delivery vehicles on foot and on bicycles. Parents, please talk to your children about how dangerous this is! Please remind your children to ride with the flow of traffic and obey traffic laws. Children under 16 must wear a safety helmet while riding their bicycles. Let's work together to have a safe summer.
