🎉 Happy 156th Anniversary to The Children’s Home of Wheeling! 🎉

On February 14, 1870, a group of compassionate community leaders and members of the Young Men’s Christian Association laid the foundation for what would become a beacon of hope for vulnerable youth in our region — The Children’s Home of Wheeling, Inc.

Over the past 156 years, our agency has grown and evolved from Wheeling’s first orphanage into a trusted licensed behavioral health and residential treatment provider — all while staying true to our mission of creating a healing, supportive environment for children and families. 

✨ From our dedicated staff and leaders, to the volunteers and generous community members who have stood with us through every chapter — we celebrate you. Your heart, passion, and tireless commitment have helped shape thousands of lives and lift up countless young people in need. 💛

This Christmas, our hearts are full. Because of the incredible generosity of our community, our boys will experience the joy, warmth, and magic of the season in a truly special way.

We are deeply grateful to St. Michael’s Parish Church, the Wheeling Junior Nailers, The Children’s Christmas Fund, The Hendershots, and the MANY thoughtful community members who donated gifts from our wishlist and beyond.

Your kindness reminds our youth that they are seen, valued, and supported. We cannot wait to see their faces light up this Christmas!🎄🎁

Big News at The Children’s Home of Wheeling! 🧗🍎

We are thrilled to share a first look at our brand-new rock wall, now officially installed and ready for our boys to enjoy! This space will be used for recreation, confidence-building, and therapeutic activities—helping our youth challenge themselves, build trust, and discover their own strength in a safe, supportive environment.

A huge thank-you to the Sonneborn Foundation for the generous grant that made this exciting addition possible. 🙌 Their support is helping us bring our vision to life, and this rock wall is only Stage One of a larger renovation project funded through their partnership.

Stay tuned as we continue enhancing our therapeutic environment—creating spaces that inspire growth, resilience, and hope for every young person we serve. ❤️

Thanks to the generosity of the Ann Sonneborn Charitable Foundation, The Children’s Home has been awarded funding as part of their incredible investment in our community.

This gift will allow us to enhance our trauma-informed facility and provide vital therapeutic services to the children who need them most. 💙

We are so grateful to the Sonneborn Foundation for believing in our mission and helping so many non-profit organizations to make a lasting impact right here at home.
