This will be the last post for the Wheaton Police Department. A life chapter for many absolute great men and women has come to an end unfortunately. Thank you to the community and citizens we have served for so many years. Your support has meant the world to all of us who have worn the badge in this fine community. But alas the time has come to bid you farewell as the Wheaton Police Department. We will see you in the community some of us in brown now some of us as civilians. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the support from all the citizens, council and everyone we have touched over the years. The Sheriff's Office will do an absolutely fine job of filling the shoes the PD leaves behind and I thank them for stepping up, taking on the responsibility and accepting the challenge of providing the same service to you now. Thank you again!

SNOW EMERGENCY.......SNOW EMERGENCY

A snow emergency is being called effective at 12:01 am on Friday, March 10th, 2023.

All vehicles/trailers etc. must be off the road by 12:01 am on Friday 3-10-23 or they will be towed at owner’s expense. To be safe get them off by 11:59 pm. on Thursday 3-9-23.

If you need a place to park your vehicle until all roads are plowed and snow emergency is lifted, there will be some spots at the City shop at 202 12th st n. if no available spots are left, contact city hall at 320-563-4110 for alternative locations.

The city will be plowing and widening the streets with heavy plows so expect and prepare for driveways and sidewalks to be blocked with snow so plan accordingly. Please watch for status updates. We will post when the snow emergency is lifted.

The last snow emergency went great let's make this one go good too and hopefully...HOPFULLY this will be the last one we have to call because of this stupid winter weather run we have been having! Seriously mother nature this is beyond ridiculous and I speak for everyone when I say I am very sorry for what ever happened to make you upset, if I could give you cookies to cool your temper I would.

Anyway! Thanks in advance everyone stay safe.

Hey everyone! If you look outside you can obviously see that winter is here for sure and mother nature is ANGRY!

The County has issued a no travel advisory so please do not travel unless ABSOLUTLY necessary even in town!

Just a reminder, if you are clearing snow with a snow plow or even a blower for that matter please please please do not push it or blow it onto the street or your neighbor's property. This should go without saying but here is a reminder anyway since it is technically an ordinance violation.

Also, if your vehicle is parked on the street and the plows have gone around it once please get it moved before they go out tomorrow so clearing the streets goes fast and easy for the city crew. We have not issued a snow emergency yet but if vehicles remain on the roads one will be forced to be called and no one likes snow emergencies! So please do not leave your vehicles on the city streets or alleyways over night so they can get after it right away in the morning. They usually start around 0400 in case you were wondering on a time.

If you need a place to park off street please call our office at 320-422-7700 and we can point you to a parking place you can put your car for a while.

Please share this post and get word out thanks all! Stay Safe!
