For nearly 45 years, Bartlett has been home to U.S. Marine Corps veteran Scott. This month, his longtime home received a new roof through the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project.
Scott first moved into his home when cornfields stretched across the area, before the sidewalks, streetlights, and neighborhood he knows today. After decades in his home, his roof had fallen into disrepair and leaks had caused water damage.
Scott served two years on active duty and eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves after joining the military in 1963. At 82, he said asking for help can be difficult after a lifetime of being independent, but he is grateful for the people who came together to help.
Through this partnership, Owens Corning provided the roofing materials, Feldco donated the labor, and DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat for Humanity coordinated the project.
Thank you to everyone who helped give back to Scott and ensure he can continue to safely call his longtime home his own. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve those who have served.
