DuPage Housing Authority

DuPage Housing Authority Safe, decent and affordable housing are key elements of the mission of the DuPage Housing Authority. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

At the DuPage Housing Authority individuals and families are provided with rental assistance vouchers through a program funded by the U.S. The Housing Choice Voucher Program allows income eligible families, individuals, elderly persons and persons with disabilities to enter the competitive rental market on an even footing with others in the community. Choice is the key that opens a world of possib

ilities to each participant. Choice of where to live, the style of housing to secure, and choice regarding the neighborhood in which to live. The Housing Choice Voucher holder can use his / her assistance to locate affordable rental units anywhere their voucher is accepted!

DUPAGE HOUSING AUTHORITY mourns the passing of President Jimmy Carter, a visionary leader committed to the expansion and preservation of affordable housing.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Carter family and remain inspired by his extraordinary example of humility, public service, and legacy to uplifting all families in need.

"I have one life and one chance to make it count for something. I’m free to choose that something … my faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I can, whenever I can, for as long as I can."
— Kim Fuller (Carter's niece) Maranatha Baptist Church on Feb. 19, 2023. (AP)

DHA RECEIVES HUD’S APPROVAL TO LAUNCH FOSTER YOUTH TO INDEPENDENCE (FYI) PROGRAM!

The FYI program was established by Congress in 2019 to help young adults living in foster care, currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless at age 16 or older.

Today there are currently 3,300 public housing authorities (PHAs) in the U.S.A. and only 318 (PHAs) administer the Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) program.

At DuPage Housing Authority we are committed to reducing youth homelessness and have partnered with the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) to help youth that are aging out of the foster care system in Illinois.

Eligibility Questions:
• Did you leave foster care or will leave foster care within 90 days?
• Are you age 18-24 years old (have not reached your 25th birthday)?
• Are you currently couch surfing, homeless or at risk of being homeless?
• Do you meet the above requirements and currently pregnant or parenting?

You may be eligible for the Foster Youth to Independence Program in accordance with a transition plan described in Section 475(5)(H) of the Social Security Act, and are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless at age 16 or older.

Contact your caseworker at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and ask to be referred to the FYI Program.
